Google Ranking and Backlink Test
Humor me and I’ll show you something really neat.
1) Go to Google and search: click here2) Go to Yahoo and search: click here3) Go to Bing and search: click here
Notice anything? Go ahead, I’ll wait.
Did you look? If you looked, you’ll notice that Adobe Reader is in the top 2. And if not for Bing giving top ranking to Wikipedia, Adobe would have the top spot for “click here” in all the primary search engines. Go Bing.
Here’s the kicker. Adobe Acrobat doesn’t use the phrase “click here” on their website. They aren’t “optimized” for the phrase click here. They didn’t even try to rank well for the phrase. How is this possible?
What’s your favorite search engine?
How about Google?
How about Bing?
Yup, Google aside, who owns you?
By the way, if you look at the top ranking websites, you’ll notice that Adobe Reader is in the top 2. What does this tell you?
It tells you that Adobe Reader is one of the most important websites on the internet.
It’s no big secret that Google beats Adobe Reader in the click phrase game.
So why aren’t you clicking on their ads? I can’t tell you how many peoplebox out their Adobe Reader install, especially since so many people have downloaded it and mass produced copies.
My point is,
1)You’re not optimizing for the phrase click here2)You’re optimizing for the phrase “click here”
I said to yourself “Maybe I should be worried more aboutelling people how to get the Adobe Reader distribute their content Mediafire another time.”
And you’re probably wonder[relevant question]… “I bets those Google guys wouldn’t know how to get towherearetheoeff SeoWritersanual distribution huntingdoofollowwitw-”
You see, to be successful in SEO, you need to know how to get links pointing to your websites.
And to be successful in SEO, you need to understand Google’s algorythm. And there are a couple of things to focus on.
Firstly, what is a backlink?
The best way to understand the importance of backlinks, is to understand what a link is. Think of a link as someone who links to you. To put it in layman’s terms, they’re the administrators or the website or the data of your website.
There are a number of different types oflinks:
1) Write a press releaseon your company’s pressroom.
2) Write a post on your company’s blog.
3) Leave commentson other people’s blogs
These are just a few. There are hundreds more.
And finally, how do search engines like Google or Yahoo! decide what is important.
Well, they determine this by your websites relevant content and there are a number of different ways that search engines like Google determine that.
1) Who is linking to your website?
2) What are the anchor texts of these links?
3) How many links do you have coming in?
4) What is the Page Rank of these websites linking to you?
If you’re trying to mass-link to your site and build links quickly, that’s fine – as long as you stay away from these.
However, if you’re trying to raise your ranking in the search engines and get real relevant links with higher Page Rank and more anchor text “backs” from the content on the page that links to your site, you need to know:
1) How do the search engines decide what is ranking/rank meeting your specific search terms needs?
2) What are the factors that search engines are looking for in your specific websites to rank them favorably?
The factors that search engines are looking for in your website will be found out in the next few paragraphs below. Don’t skip over these.
Some of the important Google factors to consider in your ranking are:
Many of the listed above factors are the same as what’s found on other search engines which means if you perform well on Google too, you’ll do well on the rest of the search engines, too.
Make sure you have good content and make sure your pages have been built for good search engine ranking.
If you have a good website, you’ll manage to get indexed in the search engines.
If you manage to get indexed, Google will find you.
You manage to get ranked for a search term, you’ll find out how to un- Revisit:
If you find your website listed in the supplemental index of Google between one and six months after first appearing in Google, you’ll know something went wrong.
